The bungalow school culture – revamping our generations!
The bungalow school culture revamping our generations!
Schooling the building block of a generation that lays the foundation of a child is very much highlighted in our country. Mostly the schools are opened up in small bungalows, neatly maintained just as to give you the impression they are running under highly educated staff, and believe me once you will step into a bungalow (sorry school) you will have this feel just how well managed they are with a highly foreign staff. Except the chawkidaar and maasi, everyone will try to impress you by his or her la-di-dah skills.
But seriously do you think without an intellect approach, the usage of foreign language is sufficed to impress you? Especially, when it is not backed by a proper schooling environment, we and our forefathers had in our times. A large playground destined to perform all sorts of physical sport activities, a sporting event organized into school's playground twice a year, a mini sports club that offered regular matches, and huge airy classrooms still without the luxury of whiteboards and markers, all within school premises. Many would still awe at the great idea how in those times we used to have the charm of using a chalk and a board. This was the concept of an ideal school that went hand in hand with simple, yet elegant teaching characteristics.

Teachers, in those times have got full authority to deal with the kids, and of course the students were not at daggers drawn with teachers those days! They were supposed to obey whatever told by their elders and teachers. Unlike today, where teachers have this particular kind of feeling that they are not more than slaves to youth, moreover they are like civilized slaves! Those, who know their limits and are supposed to obey their under aged clients as if any disobedience to their masters could end up in lay off. Teachers, by no means have any authority to scold kids, let alone hitting them! Thanks to the western culture and trends that have sought new means to our youth, and new ways to get a hold on teachers.
For this reason a teacher is more about keeping his job than to carrying a worry about his students well being. Our new generation is smarter enough to figure out this weakness' which they often put to use against their teachers. Once again thanks to import the western trend that has managed to promote foreign language, restricting our national language to dry out in textbooks. Parents are happy as long as their children are speaking English, never mind what they are uttering, even at times I, with all my ears out have heard strange comments like "pados ki khala kah rahi thi, aey dekho dekho, bacha kaisey fer fer angrezi bolta hai"!
As far as the playground is concerned, no problem! Parks, and stadiums are there to meet this requirement for schools and once or twice a year organizing a sporting event is no big deal, as long as the parents pay all sorts of fee.
The bungalow school culture is focused on helping students increase their English' learning skills, the more they are proficient in learning to read, write and speak international mother tongue, the more a brighter future awaits for them. Meanwhile they provide every comfort to the children so as to appease their clients', teacher is at their service if not 24/7 then at least in the schooling hours, academically they are given every privilege to keep with the rest of the class. If any of the students fails, he is allowed to take several multiple tests to get along with the rest. If at such pace our youth keeps getting success, the day is no longer ahead when victory will be ours and we will see our youth communicating better in English than in Urdu! Who knows, this will be a hope for those poor families who have long struggling hard to eradicate social differences!
