One of the most important parts of planning for newborn is setting up their room. Whether you want to create a nursery or simply purchase a few things for their room, babies need stuff. As a matter of fact, babies need lots of stuff. They are a lot more expensive than you might think. However, the things needed for a new baby that are most expensive are those that add up over time, which are inevitably diapers and wipes.

The amount of diapers needed for a child is unreal. Chances are, you'll have someone helping you out with the first couple of batches of diapers, but all too quickly, you're going to discover that they run out almost immediately. On average, newborns go through approximately 250 to 300 diapers per month if you're changing them regularly.

Some of the other things needed for a new baby are lots of clothes. New parents - especially mothers - enjoy taking the time to search for exciting baby products that they like. There are literally tons of baby clothes to choose from. As you shop, make sure that you don't purchase all newborn clothing. You'll want to spread it out a little bit - purchasing a few newborn outfits, as well as some 0 to 6 months clothing, and maybe even a few 1-year-old outfits. Babies grow at the speed of light, and usually don't remain in their newborn clothing for anymore than 3 months - if that. Many of them fit directly into 0 to 3 month clothes.

Another important item to consider when thinking of things needed for a new baby is a stroller. Strollers come in handy when you're out shopping and so forth. The last thing you want to attempt to do is try to carry your newborn in your arms everywhere you go. Although they may not weigh much, they tend to get heavy after a few hours. A stroller can also come in handy as you are trying to gain your figure back. It can be healthy for both mother and baby to get outdoors as long as the weather conditions are appropriate.

Last but not least is the car seat. Out of all baby products, a car seat is obviously one of the most important. Most hospitals won't allow you to leave if you do not have a car seat. You wan to make sure that you purchase a nice, sturdy car seat as well. Fortunately, most sturdy car seats don't cost a fortune.

These are just a few of the most important things needed for a new baby. Other baby products you might consider purchasing before your little bundle of joy arrives include toys, teething rings, a bassinet, a crib, a bouncer, a walker, baby sheets, car seat covers, a sling or baby carrier, a few pacifiers, a couple of blankets, an infant bathtub, and a baby monitor. Not all of these things are a requirement, but definitely help make life a lot easier and more exciting.
