Three Advantages To Including Glass Partitioning In Your Office Refurbishment

There comes a time when every office needs to freshen up its image

. Bringing in some plants or hanging some attractive paintings or prints on the walls are nice touches, but not completely effective. A total office refurbishment is much more like it, providing the chance to create a completely new working environment.

The reason why such a project should be sought comes down principally to two things. Firstly, the effect that partitioning can have on office personnel and secondly, the chance to modernise the company image. There are other benefits too but the real issue relates to design and whether to opt for an open plan or partitioned floor plan. If partitioning is preferred, a choice will be made with regards to demountable or glass partition walls.

The modern office can allow for almost any preference, and while demountable partitions most definitely have their attractions, both practically and aesthetically, many opt for the glass option instead. The reasons are not too difficult to fathom.

What Glass Says

With any refurbishment plan, there is a desire to modernise the image of the office itself. This has as much to do with the impression it gives clients and visitors as it does giving staff an impressive place to work. In truth, glass has a great ability to make the desired impact. The clean cut appearance of the glass panels, and the seamless finish of the frameless glass walls, gives the office a slick, contemporary and very professional look.

Generally speaking, glass is recognised as a material that provides that ultra modern look. This has a lot to do with the preference for uncluttered work spaces, without loads of filing cabinets, narrow corridors or a labyrinthine office lay out. Glass provides the dual abilities to divide and open, ensuring that both practical and aesthetic design advantages can be enjoyed.

What this says about a company can only be positive. It shows they are forward thinking, fresh and modern and that they take care of their staff by providing an ideal working environment.

Let the Light Shine In

One of the biggest problems for offices, especially in built up urban areas, is the distribution of natural light. In many cases, light from a window is enjoyed only by those lucky enough to sit near to it, while those situated in the inner areas of the office make do with rather dim surroundings. When offices are enclosed, the need for electric lighting all day can be as damaging for the eyesight of the individual as it is to the office budget.

By using glass walls in partitioning the office, natural light that comes into the work space can be distributed much more effectively. A solid partition, for example, will block the light and absorb it, but glass lets the light flow through to the other side.

As a result, the whole office becomes a brighter place to work in, which in turn has the psychological effect of making it a more positive place to work in, as so many studies have proven.

Rise in Positivity Levels in Work

And that is another key point worth considering when planning the new office layout. Light has a hugely positive effect on all of us. This leads to higher levels of productivity, greater office cooperation and interaction, and creates a generally happier place to work in.

There is little doubt that a complete office refurbishment has some major advantages over just a general change in interior design. While the inclusion of some greenery and some nice pieces of art are also positive steps towards developing an enjoyable working environment, glass partition walls can provide much more than simply a division of space. The style of the glass design, the unrestrained nature of the material and the sense of openness that it promotes, makes it an understandable favourite.

Of course, this is not to say that demountable partitions do not have their charms. After all, they too can come with large panes of glass through which the light can shine. However, the framed structure means there remains a solid aspect that seamless glass does not have. And in terms of creating the ideal working environment, glass still tends to get the votes.
