"Lets discuss leaving the hard parts to the end. Youre a financial planner, you want to partner with CPAs, why be eager to talk about the hard parts. For some reason, you are drawn to talk about the licensing issue.

Yes, they need to be paid, yes, they need to be licensed for that, but why start with that when theres nothing in the pipeline and theres nothing to pay? That will blow your negotiation, and your edge, out of the water.

Think how many issues there are to discuss regarding financial planning, retirement, taxes, Etc, before the licensing issue comes up. If it does prematurely all you need to do is confirm that it is required, but set your future partner's mind at ease that it will not be complicated and will be fully assisted by you and your back office.

Clients come first in this equation, and dont worry, if they passed the CPA exam they can pass anything.

I can assure you that anyone who has $20,000 of compensation waiting for them to get licensed will be licensed within a week. You would too! Leave it to the end and prioritize right now. Talk about collaboration first, and you will have a much better response."
