Pearl Jam recently appeared on Austin City Limits on Saturday, November 21 but it's important to respect and understand that Pearl Jam is not just about music. Pearl Jam has activism in its blood. From partial U.S. tour proceeds being donated to Pearl Jam's Vitalogy Foundation to their partnership with eco-friendly clothing designer Loomstate. The partnership has created a limited-edition Pearl Jam Backspacer t-shirt that is available in selected Target stores.

Other activism participation by Pearl Jam's members includes Partners in Health, The Poverello Center, 826 Seattle and more. The band's name is not lightly thrown around with Water org and United We Serve. This well-rounded aspect sheds some insightful light this American rock band that got its start in Seattle Washington back in 1990. A testament to their unique sound, Pearl Jam has had the same members since its creation with the exception of Cameron who joined the band in 1998. Recognized for belting out hits that have been classified over the years as grunge, hard rock and alternative rock, Pearl Jam exploded into mainstream music with their first album, Ten.

Although they've been criticized by some of their peers and notable publications for boycotting Ticketmaster and not making music videos, there is no question that Pearl Jam has been and continues to be an influential band that has sold over sixty million albums worldwide and appears to be here to stay. In 2009, Pearl Jam launched yet another tour that marks twenty years of great music this band has been delivering to fans around the world.

In August, this year, Pearl Jam started their current tour in Calgary, Alberta Canada at the Canada Olympic Park. Fans raised the roof as the band opened the show with the smash hit "Why Go" and delighted the audience with nearly twenty songs before the set was complete. Two encores later, there was undoubtedly not a member in the house who didn't go home with the sound of Pearl Jam in their heads and humming, whether it was closing song "Yellow Ledbetter" or one of the many other hits performed.

Since that opening concert in August, Pearl Jam has taken the world by storm, performing fantastic venues in many different locations. From London to Seattle, Toronto to San Diego, Pearl Jam has given fans in many places the opportunity to experience the satisfying performances this band creates in a live atmosphere. In November alone, Pearl Jam has given crowd-pleasing concerts in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Christchurch.

The 2009 Pearl Jam Tour series has been featured in locations across North America, Europe and Oceania with five stops in Europe, 19 stops in North America and seven stops in Oceania for a total of 31 fabulous opportunities to see this great band in action. The Backspacer Tour is the first tour since the U.S. Tour in 2008. If you've never taken advantage of the thrilling experience that comes with seeing Pearl Jam perform live with such greats as Simon Townshend and The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. The Backspacer album marks the eighth album for this band that's still going strong and making music that people want to hear.
