Most of us have a few favorite dining establishments that we tend to visit whenever we decide to go out and eat

. However, sometimes we just want to try something new. This can be a bit of a risk since some restaurants just aren't as good as others. It is so disappointing to end up spending your money on food and service that just doesn't live up to our standards. There are a number of things you can do to try to find new restaurants to add to your favorites without having as much of a chance of disappointment.

First of all, you can ask your friends and family members for recommendations for their favorite dining establishments. Be sure to ask them what they like about the places they are recommending, and what dishes they do particularly well. Get as much information about the type of food and the ambiance as you can so that you can determine whether or not this might be a good restaurant for you to try as well.

If you don't have any dining recommendations from friends or family, or they don't like the same types of food that you do, you can always use the internet to get a better idea of which places you should try. There are a number of different websites where people post reviews of the restaurants that they visit. You can check these out to see which restaurants in your area might be worth a visit. Not everyone has the same tastes, so you might not agree with what is written about any particular place after you have visited it, but reviews can help you to narrow down the options.

There are also a number of dining guides available for purchase that rate restaurants. Those with higher ratings are supposed to be better restaurants, and usually there will be a short description of the restaurant included with the rating. Of course not every restaurant will have been visited by the people who write these guides, but it can give you an idea of which of the more established or larger places might be good to eat at, and which ones you will probably want to avoid. You just have to see if there is a guide available that includes the eating establishments in your area that you can purchase or access online. Many of these guides have been produced by professional restaurant critics.
