The best way to approach your impending move is to make a list of things you have to do and get started as soon as possible. Moving does not have to be stressful. It only becomes a nightmare if you keep everything for the last minute. Getting an early start will give you sufficient time to iron out glitches, buy your packing boxes and other moving supplies, gather all your paperwork and sort things out without getting overwhelmed.

Here are a few tips that will hold you in good stead when it is time for you to move.

The first thing you will need to do is go from one room to another and make a list of the furniture as well as the other items that you have in each room. Armed with the list and taking into consideration whether you are moving into a larger or a smaller home, you will now have to decide what are the items that are going with you and what is staying.

You will also need to buy boxes that are smaller in size for your fragile curios. It is never a good idea to stuff too many curios into a larger sized box as there are higher odds of them getting damaged or broken. List a few larger sized packing boxes for items such as duvets, sheets and pillows, which take up a lot of space but are not too heavy.

After you have determined how many packing boxes you will need, go online and do some comparison shopping between several websites. When you find what you need, place your order immediately- the sooner you get your boxes delivered, the sooner you can get started with your packing.

If you are packing up your boxes much in advance, the best way to do this is to start with things you are sure you will not need in the interim period. For example, if you are moving in spring, you can pack up all your winter clothes and shoes, label the box and keep it aside. Even if you pack just one box a day, it will be make it so much easier for you when D-Day arrives.
