Tips For You In Learning English
Recently, I spotted that many language learners have been desperately seeking for tips to the perfection of foreign languages they have pursued
. Since the day I commenced English Learning, I was also engaged in endeavoring my best to pounce upon a method which might make me as one of the English Masters rather than seating myself obediently with a book in my left hand while the right one scratching the back of my head intermittently whenever difficulties were encountered. I rushed to the book stores and bought many books, such as, the famous New Concept English, the Family Album USA, Look Ahead, along with audio tapes and even video tapes, and so forth.
It was one day I happened to come across a book called How I Studied Foreign Languages, by a Hungarian Linguist (whose name I unfortunately forgot). She spent 25 years learning 16 languages, of which 10 she could use in daily communication, and 6 could be applied in some fields of hers, respectively, Translating materials of some certain professions, reading, and appreciating artistic works like novel, poetry, drama and etc. In her book mentioned above, she compiled her own experience of Foreign Language Learning into only ten simple sentences.
1. Foreign Language Learning cannot be interrupted for even a single day. If there is not much time, to squeeze 10 minutes for it would do. And remember 10 minutes each day is much a lot better than a whole day in a week. Mornings is the best time for Foreign Language Learning.
2. Do not push yourself if you are tired for the time being. However, do not drop it either. You can always adopt different method in order to make Foreign Language Learning more interesting, such as, singing English songs, watching English movies, listening to stories recorded on tapes,and so on.
3. Without a full perception of its contexts, never ever try to commit anything into memory.
4. Take notes of those most daily applied sentence patterns anywhere and anytime, and recite them until they are engraved on your heart (which means that you can use them by the light of nature).
5. Do what you can to mentally translate or interpret things which have a touch with you, such as, something overheard. This is a way to relax too.
6. Only those that are modified by teachers are worthy remembering. Do not repeatedly review those which are not rectified. If so, you will not realize that you have unconsciously memorized the right along with the wrong. If you just commit self-education without any aid from others, then recite materials that are utterly right.
7. Apply first person pronoun when taking note of or memorizing idioms, for example, I am only pulling your leg.
8. Foreign
Languageseems like a fort. You must besiege it in all directions : reading newspapers, listening to radio, watching original motion pictures, attending English orations, studying textbooks, communications with English speakers (of course the native ones would be the best), and etc.
9. Be brave when speaking; Be Afraid never to make mistakes. Be sure to ask someone (who is better than you are) to correct your errors. Especially, never feel shy or deflated whenever someone surely rectifies your inaccuracies.
10. Be convinced that you will definitely reach your goal; be assured that you do possess the fortitudinous quality and genius in Language Learning.
