Tips for New Dads How To Be A Good Dad? Things New Fathers Can Do To Bond With A New Born Baby
Have you recently become a new dad and feel left out because you don't know what to do? Not to worry as help is easily to hand (tips for new dads). It seems to be the norm for new fathers to be left out of the loop when it comes to their partner being pregnant and what comes with fatherhood. In pregnancy it's usually all about the mother to be and the new unborn baby, sadly leaving the new dad out of the equation, unintentionally.
New dads are the ones that have more worries than the expectant mother sometimes because they don't have that motherly instinct and bond.
What about single dads who have no choice but to develop the knowledge after say for instance; losing their partner during birth complications, or mothers who have left dad to hold the baby, due to postnatal depression and feel they cannot cope. The new dad gets left in the deep end with a child, or in some cases children.
Well if you have just become a new father then congratulations, you might be saying to yourself what do I do now? Where is the instruction booklet? How do I deal with all these new changes in my life that comes with being a new dad? If you are thinking these thoughts then don't panic.
The first few weeks you will feel confused, worried, excited, and overjoyed about having a new baby and becoming a daddy. But you will find naturally it will come to you eventually, with all the ups and downs you will face in the months to come.
Your new status as a new dad and having a new baby in your relationship may make you feel slightly insecure. Maybe you feel your partner doesn't love you anymore, or that she loves baby and shows baby more attention than you. Well just remember you are a big boy now, and the little mite you and your partner have brought into the world is a defenceless baby, who has nobody but you as their father and mum to protect and take care of them.
Baby's arrival will transform your relationship for a while, but things will get better in time. Whilst mum is breast feeding you may feel slightly helpless, maybe suggest doing the night feeds and getting mum to express milk for you, so you can feel the bond and closeness of feeding baby too.
Lots of new dads want to get involved but somehow sit back worried that they may do something wrong, even harm them. Babies are strong little characters so I wouldn't fret. When it comes to looking after a new born baby, think on the lines that the little one needs you just as much as he/she does their mom.
Baby chores listed below are some you should consider to do that will not only lighten the load for mom, but bring you and your son, or daughter closer together, giving you both that all important bond.
Get involved with what you can such as;
How to bath the baby
How to get baby to sleep if he/she is restless
How to get baby ready for bed
How to help baby to walk and talk
How to know the difference of his or her cry when in pain, or when they just need attention
And last but not least dad, how to change the baby's' nappy/diaper?
Becoming a new dad will change your routine, whether you work or stay at home. But don't worry about being a good dad, as long as you do everything in your power to protect, care and love your child to the best of your ability, and help in any way possible when you get the chance you will make a great new dad.
And as your child grows up he/she will love and respect everything you have done or sacrificed for them over the years, throughout them growing up.
Never feel left out or unloved from your partner, they don't love you any less than before having the baby. You both just have a precious child now that needs your attention 24/7.
