Top Three Things To See On A Washington Dc School Trip
As a child you may go on several field trips and see many different things
, but one of the most memorable and historically educational journeys would have to be the Washington DC school trip. Our nations history is wrapped up and displayed with some of the most beautiful buildings and statues, and everything is surrounded by images and events that changed and built this nation.
The number one stop in DC would have to be the White House. Even though you have to stand several yards away, and have to look through the tall gate that surrounds the property, you can't help but feel the magnitude and energy that comes from the large beautiful house in the distance. Seeing where the President of the United States lives can be very empowering to a child.
The second stop would have to be the Reflecting Pool. Seeing the large pool with the Washington Monument reflecting in the water is very beautiful. The pool is large and, depending on the weather, is surrounded by geese and their babies. You can stop along side the reflecting pool and sit on the benches lined up under the trees. Even with all the people around, it seems quiet by the pool and it is a good site to spend a little extra time.
After you pass by the reflecting pool, you walk straight up to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Looking up at the great amount of steps, and the building at the top, makes you determined to go there and see what is inside. You would usually be surrounded by tourists as you walk by large columns and enter the building. As you enter you see the large statue of Abraham Lincoln sitting in front of you. The statue makes you feel so small and the room is surrounded by words of the former President. It is definitely a place that remains in your memory even if the words don't make sense to you as a child.
While you sit at the top of the Lincoln Memorial you can look across to the reflecting pool, with the Washington Monument right behind it, and the state capital in the distance. It is beautiful and inspiring and no matter how young, or old, it is not an experience that is easily forgotten.
A Washington DC school trip is one that will motivate, encourage, and enlighten everyone that gets to be a part of it.
