Tourist Activities In Queenstown, New Zealand
Queenstown is located in New Zealand and it is famous worldwide for its beautiful landscape
. For the adventurous person, this is one of the best places to be, as the unofficial nickname of this land is the Adventure Capital. Here are a few ideas on how to spend your time in Queenstown.
Many come to Queenstown for a bungee jumping experience. One place where you can try jumping, with your legs on nothing but a chord is on the Kawarau Bridge. You do not have to travel far from the city to find this spot, since it is located only about a short ride from Queenstown. The height is about 43 meters and, if you can do it, then you will have an exhilarating experience. Other important bungee jumping spots near Queenstown include Nevis Bungy, Ledge Bungy, Nevis Arc and Ledge Sky Swing. The craziest of them all is the Nevis Bungy, where the drop is 134 meters and people jump into the abyss from a cable car.
Jet boat tours are readily available in Queenstown. The best known tours are organized on the Shotover River and the Kawarau River. You will have no less than 43 kilometers of water adventure before you, so be prepared. The boats are especially made so that they can travel through shallow waters with ease. Jet boating is among the most amazing activities you can embark on when you go to Queenstown as there is no better place for such an adventure in all New Zealand.
There are a few differences between the two rivers on which you can go on a jet boat tour. The Shotover River has deeper waters, but passing through Shotover Gorge adds a lot to the thrill ride. You will practically travel through impressive boulders, feeling like you are about to be squashed like a bug against the rocky surfaces. The boat drivers are very experienced, so you do not have to worry about such a thing happening. You just need to enjoy the thrill, while you ride through the waters and pass through the amazing gorge. Such tours are organized even during winter, so you will have to make sure that you are adequately dressed.
Another great activity you can try in Queenstown is the skyline gondola. You only need to walk to the gondola from the city center and embark on a great adventure. This is considered the steepest lift in all the area as the angle is 37 degrees, and Bob's Peak, which is the finishing point, standing 450 meters above the starting one.
While in the gondola, don't forget to enjoy the views of the city beneath you. The trip is only ten minutes but, on the top, you will be able to indulge in a snack, a drink or a meal and shop for some souvenirs. The views of the city and of Lake Wakatipu and nothing but amazing. You can choose to spend a few hours at the top only to enjoy the views.
