Toyota Etios Sedan Review
The Toyota Etios made its debut in the Hatchback and Sedan concept at the Auto Expo 2010
. This time around the prices of Toyota Etios is one of the most tempting considering the fact that it is a Toyota and the build quality is top notch. The Hatchback and Sedan of Toyota Etios is available in both Petrol and Diesel Engine. The Etios diesel is available in three variants of GD, VD and VXD. The J variant is available in petrol.
In terms of the exterior looks the Toyota Etios does not beat around the bush and has a no nonsense design approach to it. The car is a combo of luxury and practicality. The interiors are quite spacious with a good boot space enough to fit your entire weekend luggage. The rear has a flat floor and this means you can easily seat up to three people at the back. Overall the car is a value for money with enough comfort.
The Toyota Etios specifications measures with an overall length of 4265mm, 1695mm of width, 1510mm of height and 170mm of ground clearance. The wheelbase is 2550mm and a luggage space of 595 litres. The tyre size is 175 / 65 R14 for Toyota Etios J and Toyota Etios G. The Toyota Etios V and Toyota Etios VX have a 175 / 65 R14 tyre size. The diesel Toyota Etios VD and Toyota Etios VXD has a tyre size of 185/60 R 15.
On the straight line the car is quite good due to the short gear ratios. The broad torque also helps the car deliver a good uniform speed and makes it a good drive on the city streets. Due to the low cost you can clearly feel the short of luxury features. The basics design of the car is quite good but has been done at the cost of compromising quality.
The Toyota Etios comes in colors of Symphony Silver, Harmony Beige, Serene Bluish Silver, Vermilion Red, Celestial Black and White.
The Toyota Etios safety features include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), Energy absorbing body shell and Dual SRS front airbags. The Airbags and ABS comes optional in "G" variant of Etios and these features are standard in "V" and "VX" variants.
The diesel variants are distinguished by the 'D' on the rear. The GD variant of the Liva hatch is priced at Rs 5.54 lakhs going up to Rs 5.84 lakhs. The three trim levels of the Etios sedan costs around Rs.6.44 - 7.87 lakhs.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire diesel with a price of around Rs 5.78 lakh to Rs 7.1 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, pips the base version of the Etios which is almost 66,000 rupees cheaper and 55,000 rupees more than that of the Tata Manza. The price difference could be a bit of dampener to the success of the Etios but with Toyota badge, space and refinement makes it a tough contender.
On the flipside the car is quite noisy, the engine starts to rattle beyond 3000 rpm and the cost cutting really hits you in the face.
