Traditional Network Marketing Vs. Direct-response Marketing

If you have been involved with network marketing for months or years

, you have probably heard all of the lies or myths about network marketing. Everyone is your prospect. Anyone can do this. We have the best products, comp plan, leadership ever. We just share our products or our plan with people. We have a proven system. We will build the business for you. If all of this is true, then why are 95% of the distributors spending more money than they make?

If you talk to everyone in your warm market and everyone who comes within 3 feet of you, you will soon end up in the NFL-No Friends Left. Then, they tell you that you need to be serious about the business and get fired up about it.

To keep you believing that the traditional network marketing methods work, they hold up some heavy hitters who are making tons of money and they imply that these people built their downlines by talking to friends and family and everyone that came within 3 feet of them. But, when you pull back the curtain, you see that they use an entirely different approach.

I know of a company that touts a man who made $65,000 in his first week with the company, and they make it sound like anyone can do that. But, prior to this, I heard this same man say that he had 150,000 names and addresses on his mailing list. And, 30,000 of those were paying clients. I know another man who is successful in every network marketing company that he joins. He has a list of 400,000 email subscribers. Do you think that these men developed databases of 150,000 and 400,000 by talking to people in the line at the grocery store?

We have to have a system to put the MARKETING into Network Marketing and Multi Level Marketing. That system needs to marry the right message to the right audience at the right time. That system needs to do the sifting and the sorting so that we only have to follow up with those who raise their hand and show a real interest in being in business for themselves. And, the system must be automated so that we can put it on autopilot. Then, we can get orders 24/7 for 365 days a year whether we are working or asleep or on vacation.

With the Internet, it is easier than ever before to automate marketing systems. With the economy the way that it is now, there are millions of people looking for a home-based business. There is nothing wrong with the concept of network marketing. It is the method of doing the marketing that is wrong. We just need to use marketing systems that will develop our database so that we can be in that 1-2% of top earners in our own MLM.
