You may think why companies would want to hire retirees and empty nesters to work for them. Aside from the shortage, companies also think that people from that group will be a good recruit because they believe that these people already have great work ethic, and a proven record of performance, reliability and dependability.

Retirees already know how to get the job done. They have already proven themselves in the work place and they are usually dependable and more responsible. Most of the time, older men and women are better than younger generations when it comes to work ethics. Retirees who have made it through on career successfully already know and understand what needs to be done in order to get the job done and they are not afraid to try and do it. They are even more persistent.

Empty nesters are another group that trucking companies are eyeing. They will be a great workers, they are not tied in many obligations in the family since their children are already grown- ups and already have the life of their own. Truck driving will be a good job for these couples and it will give them a chance to travel together while earning together as well. Husband and wife team in trucking usually earns more since they can accept long distance work and was able to deliver more and faster. Many couples already succeed in this business.

If you are a retiree or empty nesters, getting a job in truck driving is not difficult at all. All you have to do is to get your CDL (commercial driver's license). You can have your CDL by attending weeks of training and passing the exam after. You should not worry about the tuition fee because there are also a lot of trucking companies who sponsors the training of their employee, and there are also a lot of ways how you can fund your training. After you get your CDL, you are now ready to work. Just make sure that you are in good health condition and are fit to work.
