Tucson Band Funky Bonz Releases New Funk Rock EP

For Immediate Release

March 29, 2011

With this newest and exciting collection of songs from Tucson Funk Rock Band Funky Bonz who are routintely recognized worldwide for their exciting and powerful style of tunes, Funk, rock, rap and reggae collide!

Funky Bonz have been touring the southwest and opening for exceptional national groups since 1992. They have performed with Fishbone, Weapon Of Choice, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Dread Zeppelin, Ozomatli and many more. They incorporate rock, funk, reggae, ska, and quite a few other sorts of genres to their songwriting creating a different but readily accesible groove. For the groups great new EP release for Expat Records, the equation has actually been enhanced by inclusion of previous Funky Bonz trumpet and trombone players Dante and Tony Rosano. The brothers are joined by twin saxophonists T.K. together with James "Zinny" Ball, creating the ultimate horn section in the bands recorded heritage. Maintaining the rhythm and beat on the new E.P. are bassist Fernie "Snoop" Lopez and drummer Mike "Heff" Hoefnner. Doug "Hurricane" Floyd makes this cd ROCK with his mind-blowing grooves and blistering solos. Frontman Brent Kort does a spectacular job of sounding at home in whatever style his adeptly handpicked musicians throw at him while the vocals are smooth and thought provoking.

The E.P. gets underway with the title track" Prince Charming which starts off as a funky disco beat with falsetto singing out of the blue morphs into a rap rock melody before finally closing with a straight up heavy metal rock 'n roll guitar solo. " Make it Funky" is next and with their specialized horn and rhythm section is no wonder why this group is constantly earning nominations and awards in Tucson as among the prime bands within their type in Tucson. The ska track "You Don't Know Jack" is a stimulating romp and the groovy "Come A Long Way" is a fantastic way to end the E.P. with one more amazing solo from the "Hurricane".

Tucson Rock and Funk fanatics would be well advised to give the new EP "Prince Charming" a listen. It incorporates a winning combination of styles and influences and it's energy is unique and inspiring.
