Turn A House Into A Home With Furniture
Have you ever thought about the actual difference between a house and a home
? A house is a building with no character, no people. A home is lived in; it's somewhere that you stay. It has feeling and character. Other than the people and the decorations, there is also something else there that makes a home and gives it warmth and comfort; furniture. Furniture was originally created for use and made to be practical, rather than just for decoration. Tables and chairs for were for eating at and cupboards for storing your food in, these were the main ingredients, but over the years things have changed.
The best furniture designers earn a great deal of money re-inventing the simplest items, such as chairs and stools. Consumers like to be different from their friends or neighbours, unique not just competitive and this creates a market for new designs and has led to the recent introduction of some cool furniture ideas and designs, most notably sold through a certain well-known Swedish supplier, which we don't have to plug in this article. However, not everyone wants basic but fashionable designs which may go out of fashion as quickly as they come in to the store. In addition to this, these items of designer furniture are often not as user-friendly or as comfortable as something less flashy. We often tend to forget the reason we have furniture in the first place, (which is to use, rather than to just look at) and old, cheap and ugly items are often our favourites.
Custom furniture makers try to accommodate bespoke designs with user-friendliness. These designs can be for, or from, any culture or society around the world. However, due to the heritage and development in some countries as to others, there is a marked preference for designs from particular parts of the world as with other products.
One such place, which is known for its hi-technology in computers, electronics and machinery, is also known in other circles for its ancient culture and wonderfully creative, yet user-friendly, items used daily for generations. This place is Japan, and traditional Japanese furniture enjoys a wonderful reputation around the world for its elegant looks and simple and comfortable usefulness. George Nakashima furniture is probably the most popular of the Japanese custom furniture makers as he combined an international upbringing with the patience and discipline of his compatriots. Born to Japanese parents in the United States in 1905, he travelled the world, spending time in his native Japan, and met an influential man while interned during World War II. Although sadly departed, his legacy remains and his home, workshop and studio in Pennsylvania has been listed on the US register of historic places. Now that he has passed on, his pieces of furniture are becoming collectable and therefore valuable.
George Nakashima furniture Australia is not available everywhere or in any furniture shop but you can find it in furniture shops that deal to high-end customers or in art galleries in prestigious areas of Sydney.
