Types Of Hemorrhoid Treatments For Serious Hemorrhoid Conditions

Natural hemorrhoid treatment is effective for manageable hemorrhoids those that can be managed at home

. But there are instances where patients cannot help but scratch the area or even lift heavy objects. These and more can seriously worsen the condition. If this happens, home remedies are sometimes rendered ineffective. Fortunately, there are still several treatment approaches for hemorrhoids that worsened to more serious levels.

Surgery

For patients whose hemorrhoids have reached serious levels, its imperative to seek immediate help. There are several traditional surgical techniques and hemorrhoid treatment for such conditions, including prolapsed hemorrhoids. These techniques are used to provide long-term relief and immediate liberation from the condition.

One traditional technique is the Milligan-Morgan Technique. This hemorrhoid treatment, developed in 1937, involves the excision of three major hemorrhoidal vessels. Among the number of hemorrhoidectomy techniques, the Milligan-Morgan Technique is the most popular and considered gold standard.

Another is the Ferguson technique developed in 1952 by Dr. Ferguson. This is a slight alteration of the aforementioned technique that involves partially or totally closed incisions with absorbable running suture.

Stapled Hemorrhoidopexy or more popularly known as only PPH is another surgical technique used to reduce prolapsed hemorrhoids through the excision of a band from the prolapsed anal mucosa. The first stage of the procedure is done with a circular stapling device.

Other techniques

Aside from surgical procedures, which always carry risks among benefits, there are other techniques that are relatively painless. One of these is electrotherapy. Also known as bipolar coagulation, this technique induces coagulation to the mucous membrane near the affected tissue. This technique is best for internal hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoidal Arterial Ligation or HAL is another popular painless treatment that uses a modified proctoscope along with an ultrasound flowmeter. Essentially, the technique involves tying the hemorrhoid with a knot to stop the flow of blood and cause it to shrink.

Electric treatment is also another option for patients. Through the use of therapeutic galvanic waves, a chemical reaction will be produced which causes the hemorrhoids to shrink and dissolve.

There is also the painless technique that makes use of a specialized medicine injected directly into the hemorrhoid and its blood vessels. The medicine will cause the affected tissue to shrink. Unfortunately, this technique is mostly used for small hemorrhoids.

But for a radical hemorrhoid treatment, patients can choose super freezing. This technique uses liquid nitrogen to super freeze the affected tissue and causes the hemorrhoids to slough off. This in turn will prompt the growth of healthier tissue.
