The craze of a photo-shoot from the first cameras that were developed was simply unbelieving

. This was of interest to the people because it gave them the opportunity to keep the photos with themselves forever capturing the lifes black and white processes in different phases. In those times, it was the next best thing to have after a mirror and, of course, much better than that. In fact, it was the first step to the evolution of the present cameras. The camera technology has crossed many barriers to give you those pricey handheld digital devices that are used to take the pictures of whatever you like or do not like. Still cameras, SLR cameras, video cameras and many other names describe the key technological elements that are incorporated in these cameras.

Still cameras or the compact digital cameras are the simplest form of the modern generation of cameras. These are simply used to point and shoot the photos. These cameras are designed in a way which offers easy usability. The ability of these cameras to capture the motion is limited. Even the photo ability using the flash light is limited to the nearby objects. Most of these have the zoom feature but its range is less than the bridge or the DSLR cameras.

The next advanced model is of the SLR camera , or the single lens reflex cameras. These cameras use a mirror which reflects the light coming from the lens through the viewfinder. The mirror can be taken out of the main body (though remaining attached) of the camera. These cameras have larger sensors than the others giving them superior low-light performance, lesser field depth and a large size. These use a focal plane shutter, which obviates the need to have separate shutters for each of the lenses which are provided along with the camera.

The ability of both these cameras to capture high speed motions is rather limited. If you wish to capture the live videos, then the Video cameras or the camcorders are the devices you are actually looking for. There is a little difference between the two. The video cameras are used by professionals in the TV and film industry whereas the camcorders can be handheld even by common people. A camcorder combines the camera and the voice recording functions. Most of the current versions of camcorders use the optical recording media, hard disk and the flash memory for recording purposes.

Leading companies of the world regularly bring out the better versions of the cameras in different product categories aimed at the worldwide target audience. Panasonic, Olympus, Sony, Sony, Nikkon, Casio and many others are in the fray of making digital cameras for all types of consumers. With a modern day camera in hand for a better photo shoot and video recording, the consumers can keep the photos and videos in their computers, send these across to one another using mobiles or even store these in many of the optical media devices.
