Understanding Your Body: A New Look
It is amazing that often the secrets we strive to discover have been known ages ago
, and we often find them in the most improbable places. Long ago, people who lived in the East have found the answers to the difficult questions regarding the human body.
The Indian system of medicine called Ayurveda is a whole combination of answers, which at first may seem somewhat peculiar, but soon it will come together and you will understand the ideas of the wise Indian sages. I have put together a set of these practices especially related to diet and losing weight. Take a look at these tips, and I hope they will give you a variety of approaches towards losing weight.
The Starting Point
The amount of excess fat people have today have made weight loss programs so plentiful these days. No doubt, search engines will run through this phrase and related words probably thousands of times a day.
What the reasons behind this weight gain? It all comes down to our diet, the food we eat, and this is why all weight-loss programs have meal plans to change the way we eat.
Where to begin? Now that we have decided we want to lose weight and we understand the main reason behind weight gain, we should start with our mind. We should have determination to reach our goal. The only obstacle here is ourselves, the urge to consume things bad for our body.
Knowing Our Stomach and Body
You are unique, as is your body, so you need to accept that everyone's body responds in a different way. This is a false impression that many people have. A food that may result in you gaining lots of weight, may not even have the same effect on your friend, whether it is some chicken or another food. Keep in mind that certain foods may be suitable for you, and some may not, even they are fine for others. Everyone is different. The Indian system of Ayurveda and yoga explains the different types of body types by dividing them into the 5 basic elements.
Five Elements:
Earth: All life forces become still in this element and more energy is used to put it into motion. People who have more mass are good example of having more of this earth element in their body. They do not show much worry or greed, they try to avoid arguments and their life's pace is slow moving. When there is a disorder of this element in the body, people become greedy and get attached to selfish desires. It is a neutral element.
Water: It keeps the flow of body and life. As there is more than 70% water in the body it plays a very significant role in the regulation of heat and circulation of blood, but it tends to cool down by itself. It is a negative element.
Fire: The fire created in the body heats the water. It controls sight, provides energy by digesting the food, causes hunger and thirst, and also maintains muscles tone and complexion. It helps thinking and differentiating processes, as well as production of antibodies. The fire is the ignition to our body's processes. Problems in this area cause anemia, jaundice and other digestive problems, and also causes fainting, epilepsy, derangement of brain besides diminishing eyesight and causing growth of cataract in the eyes, it produces acidity and also creates skin problems and depigmentation. This why it is so prominent in Eastern culture and medicine to control this element, as it has lots of power. It is a positive element.
Air: Air is vital to life. It gives the body strength through maintaining the functions of heart, circulation of blood and maintains balance of the body. It assists respiration and processing of stools and urine. It produces sound, nourishes both mind and memory. It helps move bile and phlegm, which do not move themselves in the body. It is a positive element.
Space: For air to properly circulate the body and maintain balance, there has to be space for the air to move around. If circulation is blocked in body, it creates pain, or even worse, leading to heart attack, paralysis, fainting, etc. It is a negative element.
