Update Electrical Knowledge with 17th Edition Courses

All homes require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) that reveals how they rate; however

, at least 30,000 of the 300,000 homes built since the standards were introduced in 2008 do not meet these legal standards, according to official figures.

Andrew Warren, director of the Association for the Conservation of Energy, told the Guardian: "Buying a home is the biggest single purchase people will make in their lives.

"With energy costs mounting - never mind the environmental issues - it's perfectly respectable to expect that buildings meet the minimum legal standards for energy efficiency."

Homeowners who live in the inefficient homes may look to employ a qualified electrician in order to help them reduce energy bills and combat climate change.

Electricians who are already qualified may need to take additional electrical courses if they are unfamiliar with the layout, content and application of the 17th Regulations Edition.

The 17th Edition Courses introduce the regulations and cover its application through explanation and worked examples although there is no practical work.

Throughout the electrical courses delegates will be prepared to sit the City and Guild 2382 multiple choice examination leading to the award of the Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations for successful candidates.

The course is aimed at practising electricians, electrical contractors and those who are required to have a good working knowledge of 17th IEE Wiring Regulations.

This award is also a requirement for electricians who are registering onto Part P courses.

It is aimed at practising electricians and other related trades who have a good working knowledge of BS 7671 and who have already achieved the City & Guilds Certificate in the requirements for electrical installations or a recognised equivalent.

The course is intended to ensure that they are conversant with the format, content and the application of the current edition of the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 17th edition.

This unit will be assessed by a multiple choice online test covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the content and application of BS 7671.

Jobs that require electricians to have passed 17th Edition Courses, which are currently available, include electrical maintenance engineer and shift electrical engineer.

Fast track training to obtain City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 qualifications, which is the required entry level into the electrical industry, are available to people looking for a quicker entry into the plumbing industry.
