Use Diverse Activities To Teach Young Children Music
Teaching some pupils the traditional methods of learning music can be restrictive
and ineffective it has been found, as their concentration levels fall during an hour long lesson. There is only so much time you can go through techniques or pieces before a child will lose concentration and become disinterested.
By implementing certain diverse activities during a music hour lesson the majority of children above the age of four can therefore keep up their concentration levels and therefore make the most of their time spent with the music teacher.
It is this constant change of activity within an hour lesson that makes the whole process of learning more interactive and fun. Music after all is about fun but also a certain amount of discipline is required to practice the pieces and techniques to improve.
It is also true to say that complete beginners to music learn more efficiently by concentrating on one instrument, whether it's learning the piano, taking guitar lessons, learning the trumpet or taking violin lessons for example. However, when the teacher feels that a pupil is ready, they may then learn to play as many instruments as they wish.
When it comes to music theory this is also an important and integral part of getting to know your instrument. It is here that breaking up the music lessons, using cards, playing musical games and using the pioneering music software really becomes more effective when teaching the child music. Music theory for most pupils is not as exciting as actually playing the instrument. The child is very young. How will he/she concentrate for an hour? Therefore at every level through innovative technology, music theory needs to be included in the most enjoyable way possible.
When it comes to practising, this then will be seen as one of the many activities in the childs eyes and therefore will be more inclined to do it at home. After time it will become possible to create a home plan that will make key suggestions about the amount of practice the child should undertake, what to do and how to do it. This is especially true when the child starts to take exams which will usually be done through the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music.
