Used Cars for Sale- A New List of the Most Stolen 1990's Vehicles to Watch Out For

In the U.S. the National Insurance Crime Bureau has come up with a new list of used cars that are the most stolen throughout their nation. The NICB as suggested that used cars for sale like Honda, Toyota and other pickup trucks from the 1990's are on top of the list. So if you are looking to buy an older vehicle from the 90's for hacking around or driving locally, please take a look at this list, you may need to spend some money on the vehicle to prevent it from being stolen.

There is a separate list of vehicles that top the biggest insurance losses. This list is from the Highway Loss data Institute and the Cadillac Escalade is the number one most stolen luxury vehicle. The insurance payout averages around $40,000 dollars.

More and more people are keeping their vehicles longer due to the economic downturn and this has resulted in a huge increase for parts for used cars for sale made in the 1990's. Here is an example, a Honda Accord from 1994 top the most stolen vehicle list the FBI made; it is worth about $2000. If thieves were to steal that car and remove the parts, those parts would be worth around $5000. This comes from a report from the NICB.

Used cars for sale from the 1990's have fewer installed factory anti-theft devices and this makes it easier to steal. Even though there are some 2000 models on the list, you have a better chance of getting a built in anti-theft device placed in those vehicles, making it harder to steal.

Here are some quick things you can do that may prevent your car from being stolen from a thief.

1- Buy a sound alarm for around $250; make sure to get a decal that announces the alarm.

2- Get "The Club" for $50 this is a great deterrent.

3- Get a mechanic to install the "Kill the Engine" this is a built in system that prevents the vehicle from starting unless the engine computer gets a signal from the exact key.

Below are the top ten most stolen vehicles in order from the NICB list.
