It is easy to get lost in the fitness clutter. All you want is an affordable, easy way to become healthier that doesn't take all day!

Have no fear! There is a fun, easy way to get in shape in your home, and it won't cost any money or require any expensive equipment.

You might now know it, but many items that can already be found in your household can be used as exercise tools to help you burn fat and gain strength. Here are some materials in your house that can help you in your quest for the perfect body:

Stairs: You might be in a one-story living space or an apartment, but for those with stairs leading to a basement or second floor, this is a great exercise tool that is often overlooked.

Who needs a StairMaster when you already have the real thing!? Walking or jogging up and down the stairs can be a great cardiovascular workout.

All it takes is thirty minutes of jogging or walking up and down a couple times a week and you will see amazing results from this seemingly simple appendage to your living arrangements.

Bouncy Ball: If you have kids, you can save a lot of money by heeding to this advice. Fitness balls on the market today can be very expensive and can take up a lot of space.

If you have small children, take one of their larger bouncy balls and use it as an exercise ball! You can simply do crunches with the ball, or if you look on the internet there are literally hundreds of different workouts you can do with these balls.

Food Items: Take a look in your pantry or cupboards and you will be able to find many things that can be a beneficial substitute for fitness equipment. You can use cans of soup or beans, jugs of water or other liquids, or big bags of beans or rice to aid you in your workout.

Furniture: Your home's furniture can be a great substitute for expensive fitness machines. They will be a great help when doing certain types of exercises.

To strengthen the arms, you can use things like chairs, the edge of a tub, or the edge of a couch to do triceps dips and give that needed burn to your arms.

Garage items: You can find things like tools or spare rope in your garage and create personal workouts.


Metal tools like wrenches can be great weights because they are heavier and solid. If you find a spare rope in your garage you can use it as a jump rope to have a great cardiovascular workout.

There are only a few ideas that you can utilize. Take advantage of the things that might be cluttering your home and use them to get in shape!

The only thing to remember is to always remember to be safe. Make sure the items you find to use won't be a hazard to you and won't increase the risk of injury.
