Using Undecylenic Acid to Treat Candida Infection

I'm not going to sugar coat this one

I'm not going to sugar coat this one. A Candida infection is nothing pleasant. In fact, it's probably safe to say no fungal skin infection, or infection period, is all that pleasant. It's not always the most pleasant trip to the doctor. They can be a real nuisance to treat. Generally speaking, they're a real pain. But, regardless if you wanted it or not (I hope not), it needs to be treated. And, surprisingly, for as common as fungal infections can be, there isn't too many concrete ways to treat them. So, I wanted to take the opportunity to discuss undecylenic acid and how it can be used for Candida treatment.

First off, let's get everyone on the same page. Candida is naturally occurring yeast in the body generally found in the mouth, throat, intestines, and genitourinary tract. In other words, some Candida is a good thing. But, they're regulated by friendly bacteria and the human immune system. So, when these friendly bacteria and the human immune system falter, Candida overgrowth, or a Candida infection, occurs. Typically, this is a this is a treatable ailment with most normal complications being redness, itching and discomfort, though complication may be severe or fatal if left untreated in certain populations. Basically, to avoid any major complications, such as the Candida becoming systemic, you want to nip it in the bud.

One popular Candida treatment is undecylenic acid. Now, I know undecylenic acid sounds like something developed in Dr. Frankenstein's lab, but it's actually manufactured quite simply. Undecylenic is an organic unsaturated fatty acid derived from natural castor oil. Castor oil is vegetable oil derived from castor beans. Basically, the castor oil is cracked, or the breaking chemical bonds, and then you have undecylenic acid.

Undecylenic acid is a natural fungicide that is FDA approved in over-the-counter medications for skin disorders or problems. It is the active ingredient in medications for skin infections, and relieves itching, burning, and irritation. Basically, every early symptom associated with Candida infection. So, if you have to make that unpleasant trip to the doctor, get on the ball about the treatment. Ask him or her about undecylenic acid.
