Using and Creating Secure Passwords

We all use passwords to log-in into forums, Websites, applications and whatever requires user names and passwords. The biggest question is whether you use a secure password?

I'm sure that you already understand that it is highly important to use secure passwords in order to protect your privacy on the Internet. Let's first try understanding what are unsecure passwords so that we can better understand what are secure passwords and how we can create them.

Here are some examples for unsecure passwords being used by many PC (and Mac) users:

1111

123456

Abcdef

(Their first name + birth date)

(Their children's birth dates)

As more and more advanced Websites today prevent you from using unsecure passwords such as 1111 or 123456 and force you to create strong passwords, many other Websites still enable you use any password that you'd like.

You must understand that these unsecure passwords are quite easy to break by hackers who wish to access your Web accounts, so never ever use these kinds of passwords. Instead, I highly advise you to use passwords that include small letters, upper case letters, other characters such as: $*!# and most importantly use long passwords of 8 characters and up.

The longer your passwords and the more special characters they contain, the better the security level of your passwords, meaning it'll be much more difficult for hackers or anyone else to be able to guess' or break' your personal passwords. I know, the problem with these kinds of passwords is that they are difficult to memorize, however there are many automatic and highly secure password management solutions out there on the Web that enable you manage all your passwords no matter how secure or complex they might be.
