Vacationing On A Budget In New York City
There are many people that do not plan a family vacation to New York City because they feel intimidated
. The city is known for many extravagant streets and upscale shopping that has become popular through many movies.
Vacationing in New York does not need to be very expensive. It is important and imperative that you take the time to understand what you are going to do in New York before you are actually there so you can save money.
There are a lot of people that successfully vacation in New York on a budget. Taking the time to understand what you need to do to stay within your budget is very important in ensuring that you are able to enjoy your stay.
Nothing is worse than vacationing on a budget and worry about the budget the whole time that you are there. You have to make sure that you are taking the time to plan your vacation and budget your money accordingly.
When you are in New York there are many different free activities you should make sure to participate in. There are so many different nooks and crannies of the city that many tourists do not even realize exist.
First, it would be beneficial and enjoyable to take a ferry out to Staten Island. When you are out on the ferry you will get an excellent view of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the harbor in New York City.
Although you will not be able to get off of the ship to visit Ellis Island or the Statue of Liberty. For many tourists it is important that they are able to get off of the ship and walk around these monuments that are so famous in our nation.
Second, you can go to Central Park and talk walks and tours through the park. Because of the size of central park there are so many different trails and areas in the park that you may find interesting or even beautiful to meander through.
In stark contrast to the nature and beauty of central park you can also go to Times Square. When you are in Times Square for the first time give yourself a few minutes to stand in place and take in everything that is going on around you.
Look up at the many different screens and billboards and look around you at the many different people hustling and busting to get from one place to another. It is truly an amazing sight and it may take a few trips before you familiarize yourself with it.
After you have stood in Times Square you can visit the FDNY Fire Zone. Not a lot of people think about visiting the fire zone when they are in New York City, but if you have small children it may be a great place to visit.
Not only do the kids get to climb around a fire truck but they will also be taught some life saving tips. There is a demonstration that will allow the children to get some firsthand experience in and around the fire equipment.
If you are interested in going to the Rockefeller Center you will be able to see many of the monuments that are very famous in New York's history. You will be able to see the Radio City Music Hall and also 30 Rockefeller Center.
There is even an NBC music store that you will have the opportunity to see. Walking through many of these different buildings may cost money and if you are passionate about what the building has to display it may be worth it.
The Juilliard School of arts is famous for the performers that attend. Throughout the school year the students put on free concerts in the Lincoln Center Plaza and the public is welcome to come join and enjoy their music.
When you enjoy music this is a great place to be. The student's that are attending Juilliard are some of the best performers in the country.
Finally, when you are in New York you can attend the taping of a show like Good Morning America. The producers of the show welcome people of all ages to the show and watching the taping of the show does not cost any money.
There are many things that you can do when you are in New York so that you do not break the bank while you are visiting. Take the time to plan out your vacation ahead of time so you can participate in a lot of activities for minimal cost.
