The Riccar RSL4 vacuum uses a 5.5 amp motor which is a little more powerful than the 4 amp Oreck motor. The Riccar RSL4 also uses paper liners that are very similar in quality and size to the Oreck vacuum cleaner bags. They are both micron filtration bags.

The RSL4 has a featre that sets it apart from the other Riccar vacuum cleaners. It has a two speed motor. The higher speed setting is used for vacuuming carpet. The lower setting is used when vacuuming bare floors, whether they be tile, wood, or linoleum.

The only drawback with the lightweight vacuums is the lack of suction. The motors are small and do not deliver enough suction for deep cleaning. This type of vacuum cleaner works very well with lower pile carpeting or Berber carpet.

The weight comes in very handy, if you are carrying the vacuum up and down stairs to clean. It's also a bonus if you have trouble carrying heavier vacuums. Most upright vacuum cleaners weigh about 15 or 16 pounds.
