Villas In Alicante: A Very Special Place
Why not book your VILLAS IN ALICANTE for a change
? This beautiful city is always going to hold a special place in everyones heart that has been here. For defensive purposes Alicante was built on a hill overlooking the sea as it meets the beautiful sandy beaches. Alicante is a city where you can relax while strolling through one of the many parks located in and around the city; its just part of their laid back lifestyle. The locals are very friendly; they don't bite.
One of the well known places to meet in Alicante is the Explanada de Espana. This boulevard with palm trees running parallel along the harbour is a romantic place to take an evening stroll. During the day time this is where you can do as much shopping and spend as many Euros as you like. When you are strolling along the boulevard, keep a look out for the giant cruise ships entering or leaving the harbour. These cruise ships also stop at places like Ibiza which we all know is the biggest party city in Europe.
If you are close to the port, then you are near Monte Benacantil which stands at 169 metres with a Moorish castle on top. This Moorish castle is known as the Santa Barbara Castillo built starting in the 14th century and is recognized as the largest Moorish castle in Europe. You can drive up to the castle or there is a lift at the bottom. Once you make it to the top take a walk on the ramparts for the best view over the city below and the harbour.
The Gothic style church of Santa Maria Basilica was built in the 14th century and completed in the 16th century. It is the oldest church in Alicante and, like other churches on the Iberian Peninsula, it was built on top of a Moorish mosque. Another church in Alicante that was also built on top of a mosque is the San Nicolas Cathedral, built starting in the 15th century and continuing into the 17th century. A good place to visit is the Contemporary Art Museum that is now situated in the Al Asegurada castle from the 17th century making it the most ancient civil building in Alicante
