. I won a National Championship for UCLA and have been invited to play for South Africa for both Beach and Indoor Volleyball. Today I am going to share with you the six key areas to focus on when spiking or hitting a volleyball. Playing at UCLA I was never the best spiker, blocker, passer or setter but what I could do better than anyone I have yet to meet or see play is spike a volleyball with incredible power.
I was filming volleyball legend Stein Metzger the other day and he said Bru, you were never the best jumper, but damn you could hit a ball, every time you went up people got scared! So how do you measure spiking hard, at my peak I could go up and spike a ball, it would hit a wall 6-8 feet off the court on one bounce and would bounce back over the net and in some cases over the baseline or serving line on our side of the court. Now keep in mind this is a Molton Pro Touch Volleyball which is made for hitting hard!
So what I thought would be valuable is to share a skill I can guarantee I know more about than almost any volleyball player or coach. How to spike a ball really hard. I hope you enjoy this and I really would love your feedback if you think this info is valuable!
So in order to understand spiking and hitting a volleyball hard you need to understand 6 key areas for hitting. Each area I have broken up into a video which Ive described below and are available to our free members at www.volleyball1on1.com!
