Volunteer Football Coaching In South Africa

Sports have a huge impact in local communities throughout the world

. Sport brings people together, encourages teamwork and discipline and is a huge source of enjoyment for all. There are many projects set up aiming to increase the participation in sports across the board, and many are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to get involved. Coaching abroad can be extremely rewarding and gives the opportunity to gain valuable experience of different cultures and attitudes.

There are several reputable projects to choose from and all are established with local clubs and teams so volunteers get the chance to make a real difference. By helping children improve their skills and giving them confidence and a sense of self-worth you will also improve your own teaching skills and widen your experience.

Many volunteers embarking on a coaching abroad project are not necessarily pursuing a career in the field. Experience is not a pre requisite, so if you are looking to have a career break or you simply want to engage in a worthwhile cause then a project coaching abroad is a great option. Enthusiasm, a sense of fun and a desire to make a difference are all that is required.

Football Coaching

Football is arguably one of the greatest games of our time. It requires nothing more than a ball and a couple of stones to mark out the goals. It is therefore accessible to anyone. The media coverage and the role models that football has produced are also responsible for increasing the admiration for this game.

As a volunteer on a football coaching abroad project you will be mainly involved in working with young children in schools and local clubs. You will be guided and supported by teams of project organisers that can help you gain the confidence you need and impart their knowledge to help you get the most from your team. You will be given ideas for training drills and ways to improve techniques, so you do not need to be an expert. Eventually, you will get to know your group and be able to develop training accordingly. As your teaching skills improve so will your confidence and the children will go from strength to strength as a result of your hard work and commitment.

Working in sports in different countries can be a real eye opener. Sport will be played no matter how little equipment is available and it is wonderful to see. The ability of many of the children is often not realised until willing volunteers get involved. Once these children are exposed to disciplined training the improvement in their skill levels is dramatic.

It is not only training that needs to be supervised, but matches too. Organising tournaments and matches is part of what is required of the volunteers. Although finding yourself coaching abroad in schools very different to what you may be used to may seem intimidating at first, it wont take long to start to realise the difference made in these childrens lives.
