By far the most over looked profession, fishing can be a fun skill to level up. It can also be extremely lucrative if you are smart about it. There is a need for all different types of fish, so theoretically you could fish in one spot over and over and make a good deal of money from the things you catch. It actually can be very relaxing, similar to real life fishing.

Money is not the only reason to begin fishing. If you are looking for a wide range of things to accomplish then fishing is perfect for you. You can find mounts; earn titles, complete achievements and many other things through fishing. Fishing can also benefit your character's abilities. Cooking is an important partner with fishing so make sure to level it along with your fishing. These two skills are a great asset to each other and it will benefit you greatly in the long run.

There are many different ways to increase your fishing skills. This profession is the easiest, but the most time consuming of all the professions to level. If you choose to you could simple sit and fish in one spot until you have reached your max skill level. But man would that be boring!

It will take you close to 4 hours and you will have to fish up nearly three thousand fish to gain your maximum level. I don't want to dishearten you by this, I simply want to be up front with you and tell you that it will be somewhat time consuming to raise your fishing skills to their max. But there are many things along the way to make it fun and easy for you while you fish.

Don't get discouraged with all the details of fishing and just sit in one spot, you will have to fish up much more than 3,000 fish to reach your goal. Within the game there are lures designed to help you increase your skills as a fisherman. They work by adding an additional number of skill points to your already established skill level. Not only will it help you level up faster; it will also help you catch more fish rather than junk. This is great if you are leveling your cooking along with your fishing (which you should be)|The fish you catch will benefit your cooking which you should be leveling at the same time you are leveling your fishing.

Fishing poles will also help you grow your skill in fishing. You will find better and better poles as you continue to level your character. The more skill points you have in fishing, the more options you will have to choose from when it comes to fishing poles.

On top of all of those lures and poles there are several pieces of gear that you can wear to add to your fishing skills.

Your character is able to use all three types of skill boosters (poles, lures and gear) at the same time. A lot of the time, there are restrictions on being able to use multiple items to increase your stats, but with fishing, the more you can add on the better.

The title of Salty is given to you if you complete the very long list of achievements for fishing. There are many players who could care less about achievements; they look at them as a useless aspect of the game. Many players find them extremely challenging and will dedicate a lot of time and money into completing them. Whether you are one or the other, you can agree that the fishing achievements can grant you some very helpful items and mounts.

The neutral cities of Shatrath and Dalaran hold fishing dailies in which you can gain fish, gear and even lures. All there to help you level your fishing. Many of the daily quests will give you rare items worth upwards of 100 gold.

It takes a great deal of patience and time to get your fishing skill to the maximum level, but in the end the rewards will far out way the hard times. If you are a casual player, you may not feel like spending your time leveling fishing, but if you are a hardcore player than leveling your fishing is a must do!
