If you are still reading, this is a good sign; this means I have earned your attention. The habit of smoking is a complex habit to overcome. It is absolutely a false statement when non-smokers tell you (the smoker) that you dont have the will power to quit. They dont know what theyre talking about. The belief that smokers cant quit because they are weak or dont have the will power has no merit, is absolutely false, is outdated, and belongs to the 60s and 70s, long before any studies about nicotine-addiction surfaced. Revealing studies have shown, totally, the opposite: smokers are locked into complex physical, behavioral and psychological addiction cycles that need to be addressed with solid solutions before their quitting success is maximized.
The vast majority of smokers who attempt to quit with many of the
stop smoking products available, without addressing these complex physical and behavioral issues, will eventually fall back into smoking, most likely within a few months. Remember, smoking is a highly dangerous enemy; it locks its victims in its very solid grip and web. Facing this enemy in an ill-prepared fashion (or half-heartedly) will not be enough to defeat it. A half-hearted entry into this war would be like going into a major battle where the enemy is armored with tanks and heavy artillery, and you are going into the battlefield armed with a slingshot.
As complex as the habit of smoking is, if you are absolutely convinced and want to quit this killer-habit (even if you have not succeeded in the past), I can assure you that with true resolve, you have already traveled halfway towards quitting. This resolve is the first weapon you will need, first and foremost.
