Warning Light - Danger And Hazard Information To Maintain Safety

Warning people of danger or hazard is important

. A warning light will not only inform us that there is something happening we need to know about, but it can illuminate our safe route out of a building. A warning light and audible alarms are common in our homes, work places and sometimes on equipment. Think of your vehicles dash, how often do you see a warning light on there? Do you take heed of what it is telling you? Of course you do. It would be foolish to ignore it. Ignoring a warning light is just about the silliest thing you can do!

So you hear an alarm, it gets you to move. You see a warning light and it tends to instill a sense of urgency. With the use of alarm and light, we are given the idea that we need to move safely and quickly. The use of a warning light on an emergency vehicle is no different. We see the light, we know something is happening and that there is a sense of urgency about what ever the incident is. We wouldn't ignore a warning light anywhere and we certainly shouldn't ignore any we see on the street.

Warnings do several things. The obvious, they tell us of danger, hazard and can inform us of how or where we should move. A light above an emergency exit in a building is a warning light and it helps guide us to the right place to maintain our safety. A warning light on any emergency vehicle informs, advises and tells us that someone is in need of assistance. The lightbars, sirens and beacons attached to emergency vehicles all serve as warnings and they do need both the visible warning light and an audible siren. Light and siren when used together is incredibly difficult to miss by anyone.

The most effective light on its own will be useless without a siren, and the best siren in the world would be pretty ineffective without the warning light that accompanies it. The two used in tandem give us the visibility and the sound we need to alert us to the danger. Of course, you wouldn't always be in the line of vision of a warning light, which is why both types of warning are needed on emergency vehicles. Of course, it's not just our safety that warning light protects; it's that of our emergency responder's as well. Anything that can be employed to maintain their safety should be used as far as possible.

The first response teams have dangerous jobs. They go into the unknown every day. They never know what it is they are driving into or what kind of hazard they may face. A warning light, siren and PA system all help them in their duties and they also help keep them safe. A simple warning light can let us know that we need to take extra care, a siren and flashing warning light lets us know we need to be aware of a situation, take care and possibly take action to avoid what is up ahead. Most emergency responders want us to know they are there and that they are taking action to help and assist someone, and their warning light does that for them
