Function of These Bottling Plants

Water bottling plants undertake various processes to purify the water for drinking purposes. Water must be treated so that it is cleared from germs and microorganisms. There are a number of processes which take place in the treatment plants. Some of the most important processes include the following.

Filtration: Water is collected from different sources such as spring, underground, rivers and so forth. It needs to be purified before it can be used for drinking purposes. Water consists of a variety of suspended solids and it is necessary to remove them. A series of filtration is carried out to remove the suspended particles. Filtration processes such as micro filtration, nanofiltration and ultra filtration processes are carried out to clean the water.

Reverse osmosis: The process of reverse osmosis is also done in the water bottling plants to purify the water.

Deionization: Another function of the water bottling plant include the process of deionization. Spring water contains large amounts of minerals which should be removed from the water. This process is known as deionization. It is usually done with the help of resin beds.

Ozonation: The filtered water is then treated with chlorine or ozone which acts as a disinfectant. The process of Ozonation helps to kill the harmful bacteria present in the water.

Today bottled water is available right from the shopping malls to railway stations. Though the largest consumers of the bottled water included the European countries, today it is also widely consumed in India. In the earlier days, it was considered as the choice of the rich, but today even common man can afford to buy these bottles.

As there are a number of bottling plants and industries in the country, bottled water has become cheap and easily available. The competitive prices and the marketing strategies adopted by a large group of multinationals in the country have led to the increase in the consumption and availability of bottled water in the country.
