Ways To Start Your Own Digital Photographic Business! (part Four)
Your own digital, photography based, home business could start here
. . .
* SCREENSAVERS. Check out screensavers on Google, lots of companies there. So they must be making money. You probably have seen the windows basic screensavers, green fields and fluffy clouds in the blue sky. Could you not do better than that? Use your imagination, digital photos manipulated till you get the effect you are after. Put it out there, there are millions of screens out there who want something different. There is a lot of free, or low priced programmes too.
* CLOCK FACES. Battery operated quartz clock movements are very cheap now. And can be added to almost anything to make a clock, all you need is a unique photo to individualise and personalise it. Gifts, promotions, businesses, many huge markets. Retirement gifts, anniversaries, are just another couple of examples.
* APRONS. With cooking shows always on the t.v. there are endless possibilities for humour here. What about cookware companies, they might like to give away aprons with their name and graphic on. Are there any trade shows going on? Fathers Day gifts, Mothers Day, Birthday, Souvenir. This product lends itself to a lot of great markets.
* FISH TANKS. Photographic scenery at the back of fish tanks is another area. Not just underwater views, but family faces, the family cat! Other fish, plates of chips! Manipulated photos of the pet supply company premises, like it had been on the sea bed for years. How about sunken ships with ss whoever on? What about the bottom of the canal, bikes, old cars, post boxes, telephone boxes, have fun. Humour and a corporate message goes a long way.
* BUTTON BADGES Again a very popular promotional item, or novelty gift, or statement, that used to need heavy investment in equipment to produce. Now you can test your markets with minimal investment to see what sells.
* COASTERS-PLACEMATS. Cafes, restaurants are obvious targets here. But again companies that supply kitchen equipment, or even kitchens are possible markets here, as are dining furniture manufacturers. What about all the national and smaller furnishing shops that display furniture, wouldn't they like the opportunity to put their name in front of the prospects who browse their store, with their company slogan or message?
* MOUSE MATS. Mouse mats and screensavers go together well, matching sets, who has them? Lots of offices with banks of computers would like their corporate image coming out of the screens and onto the mats. There is a huge market here, along with the gift and souvenir markets as well. Don't worry about the mass produced ones, two for a penny, they are not unique and never will be, they try to cover the major markets. Look at them and take ideas from them, but put it in front of your smaller, but big enough for you, market.
* NIGHT LIGHTS. Night lights or even just room lightshades are available now, even with sticky surfaces for your prints. Personalised, or themed sets are great gifts. Baby ones, again check out the maternity wards, or notices of births in the paper. How about halloween, or valentines? Put your mind to work on it and you could soon have more possible markets than you could ever handle.
* SNOW GLOBES. Fantastic items and not just for Christmas. Can be bought as a kit, you insert your photo at the back and there is a wonderful promotional item for winter clothing, ski equipment, holiday shops. Just stretch that imagination. Souvenirs, even novelty display items for any business.
* PICTURE BOXES. These are great and could go to lots of the above mentioned markets, holiday shops, souvenirs. What about pets, or kids? Makes of cars, motorbikes, football teams, or players?
This is just to get your creative juices going and your brain storming with ideas! The internet has opened up a never ending need for images, of anything and everything. Stock photography has changed, gone are the highly professional, large format shots of models and beaches, that had to be technically perfect, well they are not gone, but they are not the only opportunities for aspiring photographers who want to make a living with their hobby, their passion.
