This theater was opened for public in November, 1925, it's first ever show being Mayflowers. During its 86 year long existence, the Eugene O' Neil has witnessed more than three thousand performances on its historic stage.

Built by the famous architect Herbert J Krapp in 1911, the theater is a piece of architectural excellence at 1634, Broadway. Not very far from Winter Garden, at 213 West 42nd street, lies another popular theater, The Foxwoods. Opened in 1997, Foxwoods combines the magnificence and aura of an old theater with the conveniences of new one. Foxwoods was constructed because of the need of a Broadway musical house, which has amenities like greater seat capacity, a larger stage and access for handicapped. Foxwoods perfectly filled that void with poise and elegance.
