What Causes Ringing In The Ear?

Damaged nerve endings cause Tinnitus in the ears

. This is a ringing or buzzing sound that is heard, and if it persists for long periods of time can be very annoying. We have probably all suffered from ringing in the ear syndrome at least once in our lives. Most of the time it only lasts for a few minutes after the exposure of loud noises and it goes away on its own.

As for the other common causes of tinnitus, these would include ear inflammation and infections. The real risk to this is you may permanently damage your inner ear which will cause ear ringing. Other causes of ear ringing may be due to earwax buildup in the canals of your ears. By having yours ears cleaned or irrigated this may help.

Other causes of ear ringing problems would be the prolonged exposure to loud sounds such as music. Many doctors consider this the main cause of ringing in the ears. Now since some individuals are actually exposed to loud noises when they are at work, this may worsen their tinnitus condition. If that is the case, it is best to bring a protective gear for the ears in order to prevent, protect, reduce and remove that ringing sound that can normally be heard in your ear or head.

Certain medications may also be one of the causes of ear ringing problems- may it be prescription drugs or over-the-counter ones. Many studies suggest that these cause unpleasant noises like ringing sounds. More often than not, this can be cured by simply discontinuing the use of the medication. Just keep in mind though, that you need to consult with your doctor first before you completely stop taking it.

Take note too, that tinnitus may also be caused by the TMJ syndrome. This is when a person suffers with an under bite which then causes their lower jaw to be pushed back further. This puts pressure on the canal and ear muscles. A dentist would be able to provide this ringing in the ear treatment by simply aligning the jaw properly which will help by relieving the pressure on the ear muscles.

Additional causes of ringing in the ears would also include too much alcohol and caffeine; as well as taking in food rich in salt, spices and Monosodium Glutamate. Trauma like head injury may also cause ear ringing and many negative emotions such as stress and depression are also a common cause.

As for the cures for ringing in the ears, you may opt to use natural remedies to treat tinnitus. An excellent way to accomplish this is to take vitamins like ginkgo, zinc, and other herbs. Others make use of home remedies like vinegar, molasses, magnesium and baking soda. In addition taking up yoga or exercising regularly often helps.

If you can manage your stress levels it should help with depression, insomnia, and anxiety because these all contribute to tinnitus. Furthermore, try some relaxation techniques such as acupuncture, biofeedback, and hypnosis, while also engaging in a relaxation therapy.
