Buying a new home computer can be quite a daunting task. So where do you start? The aim of this article is to help you make your decision.

With all the advances in technology you can be left wondering should I hold out for the next great leap or buy now knowing that in a few months time what I bought will be considered out dated. Well it could be wise to check some of the gadget rumour sites such as engadget.com that give you a good idea of what is coming soon. However there will always be new items on the horizon so if you do wait a few months there will then be another latest and greatest piece of hardware up and coming so you could end up waiting for eternity. Also many of the new tech launches are often delayed.

So lets start with memory. To run a Windows 7 computer you need at least 2GB. This can be upgraded at a later date if you feel the need for a faster running machine or your using many programmes at the same time so there is a strain on the operating system but for simple everyday tasks 2GB is usually sufficient.

It is a good idea to play around a bit with the mouse and keyboard to see how they feel. Does the mouse fit comfortably in your hand and is the keyboard responsive?
