What Exactly Triggers a Heart Attack?
Heart attacks, which are medically called Myocardial Infarction is a common condition
, as the number of people who have suffered from it keeps on increasing. It basically occurs due to the heart coming to a sudden halt which is caused when it is damaged or a particular heart muscle dies.
When the blood flow which reaches the heart muscles is deprived of oxygen and the arteries get blocked with blood clots, a heart attack may occur. The following are the most common causes:
The first and the most common is that of not consuming a healthy diet. Those individuals, who have such a diet that has high levels of cholesterol and high saturated fat present in it, become more prone to heart attacks. Such a diet also causes high blood pressure and obesity.
The cholesterol in such foods gets clogged up in the arteries around the heart, leading to its blockage. This blockage then acts as a barrier in the passage of blood flow, resulting in heart attacks.
Another factor is that of smoking. People who smoke excessively increase the risk factors of heart attacks. Whether it is being done by oneself, or the smoke is reaching them passively, it is injurious and may cause atherosclerosis.
What makes cigarettes so harmful is the fact that it contains nicotine which leads to high blood pressure, and carbon monoxide which reduces the levels of oxygen in the blood.
Furthermore, obesity is another cause, as basically who are overweight are due to consuming high cholesterol and fats in their diet. Doing so will also make them vulnerable to acquire diabetes.
Not having enough exercise in one's routine greatly makes one susceptible to heart diseases. Inactivity topped up with unhealthy diets that contains cholesterol and fats increases the likelihood of heart attacks to a great extent.
