The consultation is a time when a surgeon and a patient can meet together and discuss the surgery, the patient's goals, the patient's medical history, and a number of other meaningful factors which pertain to the surgery.

Many doctors offer a free first consultation to potential clients. A number of people like the idea of going in for an initial consultation, but they are scared to. Much of this fear comes from not knowing what to expect. This article will discuss at least a few of the things that could happen during your consultation.

At your consultation, you will have a chance to speak to your surgeon. You should be able to tell your doctor about the sorts of results which you would like to see, and the sorts of changes that you would like to have made in your appearance. Your surgeon should be able to help you to know whether these results are realistic.

You will also go over your medical history with your surgeon. Please be sure to be honest about your history with regards to surgeries, illnesses, medications and any other pertinent factors. It is vitally important that you not try to hide anything during your interview, because hiding anything could drastically affect the safety of your surgery.

Your surgeon will also give you a physical in which he or she will examine your body to see if he or she thinks that you are up to the surgery. Among other things, your surgeon will check your overall weight and the quality of your skin and muscle.

At your consultation, make sure that you feel free to ask any questons that you want. Make sure that you understand the surgery, the possible results and any possible complications.

If your doctor is unwilling to answer your questions, you may want to consider finding another doctor. You really want to find one who treats you with respect and is willing to work with you. If your doctor won't explain things to you, this could be a bad sign.

One thing that may help you to feel more comfortable is to remember that you are not obligated to undergo the surgery. If you do not feel comfortable at your consultation, you really do not owe the surgeon anything. Feel free to take the time that you need to get a surgeon that you are completely comfortable with.
