What Happens If My Freight Isn't Ready For Its Scheduled Pickup?

It seems like no matter how hard a company tries to keep everything on schedule

, once in a while something just has to go wrong. A perfect example of this is how despite all the planning in the world, sometimes a company will not have their shipment ready for the appointed time when their New Orleans Courier service was supposed to come and make a pickup. When that happens, it's important that you recognize the situation as soon as possible and take the appropriate action.

If you realize that your cargo isn't going to be ready for pickup, then you need to contact your courier company as soon as you can. You shouldn't bother with trying to email them or interact through a web interface of any kind, unless you've specifically had instructions that that is what you should do if your cargo is ever not ready. Instead, it's usually best to call them directly and make sure you speak to someone who can immediately change the dispatch orders of the driver that was supposed to be coming to pick up your shipment.

Obviously when you don't have your cargo ready for shipment, it can cause a disruption to the courier driver's route, especially if you're only realizing it very close to the scheduled pickup time. In those situations, you're usually going to be charged a fee for having to adjust or cancel your scheduled pickup.

This is why paying attention to your own business is extremely important. Hopefully you can realize that something is not going to be ready for pickup well in advance of the pickup time. If you can notify the courier company with ample notice that you're not going to be ready, it goes a long way towards helping them rearrange their business, and they will appreciate the advance notice a great deal.

If your cargo isn't ready for pickup and you don't notify the courier, and they actually arrive to make that pickup, you will certainly be charged a fee by them for not having your cargo ready. In addition, they will not wait for you to finish preparing, and you will have to book an entirely new pickup in order to have that cargo picked up. Remember, they understand that these situations are sometimes unavoidable, but the key to keeping everyone happy lies in giving them as much notice as possible once you recognize that your order will not be ready for pickup.
