What Happens If You And Your Family Start To Outgrow Your House?
In this difficult economic climate, many people cannot afford to move home and yet what happens if you and your family start to outgrow your house
? Extensions can be costly, but there is an option that enables you to create more room at home without breaking the bank. Instead of moving out and losing money on your house, and instead of moving outwards with a costly extension, why not move up, by creating a room in your roof? Doing so with structural insulated panels is far cheaper than you many think, according to top supplier SIPs Direct.
If you have attic space then its a crying shame to let it remain the home of dusty suitcases. Maximise this space by building a room in a roof and not only will you be able to stay in your home for longer by creating additional space for your family to grow, but youll also be adding value to your home. Thats all well and good, but it does seem prohibitively expensive. Not any more, thanks to a new method of construction which uses composite building panels called structural insulated panels (or SIPs for short). These insulated panels are most widely used in flat pack house construction, yet the fact that they are composite panels which can be used as walls or roofs, means that they have multi-functionality, making them ideal for all sorts of construction, big and small, including a room in a roof.
SIPs are light and flexible, perfect for use in a small attic renovation, and because the panels are created off-site, the mess and waste created on-site (your home!) is minimised. They are also completely flexible in design so are as suitable for massive roof-space, ripe for mega-modelling, as they are for poky attic spaces that would work as an extra box room with a bit of clever re-design. Whats even better is that while they are light and flexible, SIPs are also incredibly strong and durable, so in some cases it may be possible to remove existing wall support beams to create yet more convertible roof space.
Structural insulated panels are low cost per unit as they are made from cheap materials, but they can also save you money on loft insulation and by helping you cut back on your energy bills. Thats because at the core of the panels is highly thermally efficient polystyrene and fibreglass which keeps the warm air in, while the airtight fit of the panels ensure no cold air permeates.
