'Home Builders Basic' is a term used to describe a house that has completely finished

construction but has not yet been decorated or personalised by the owner. These houses therefore often look a little plain and uninteresting, but represent a whole world of opportunity for the new owner. Knowing where to begin with a freshly constructed house is important for the prospective client as the fresh white walls and unmarked hardwood floors of a new construction can often present a baffling array of decorating choices.

The features that are included in a new house differ between each project, and can range from completely raw basics, such as unpolished timber floors, white primed walls and not much else, to fitted carpets or tiles, walls painted to your preferred colour palette and pre-installed appliances ready for living in straight away. Of course if you were active in the design stage of the construction and remain in regular contact with your home builder, your new house should look exactly as you hoped it would, but there are always minor changes and additions that can be made seasonally or as you think of them. While some home builders offer a complementary landscaping service, most new houses are surrounded by bare dirt, making the garden the first major project that needs to be tackled by the home owner.

There are many features and additions that may only come to mind after your home builder has finished work on your new house. These can include climate control and ventilation systems such as a de-humidistat or air conditioner, decorative features such as gables and cornices or new materials such as tiles instead of floorboards.

In some cases you might realise that you want to change a major design feature of your new house, but mostly there will just be small issues that will become apparent after living in the house for some time. Reputable construction companies will strive to ensure that all you have to do is move in your furniture and feel as if you had lived in the space for years.
