What Is An Anxiety Attack?-Can You Make it Stop without Medication!

It doesn't help to tell you that at some point 6 out of 10 people in the U.S. will have an anxiety or panic attack in their life time. If you are going through an episode now or have recently had an attack, you don't really care how many others are going to have an attack, you care about stopping your own attacks now.

What are your options? You can take medications, you can try varies types of treatments for panic and anxiety attacks like hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy, neuro linguistic programming and even meditation. Many of these options work for some people some of the time, but not all people all of the time. You will have to find the one option that's best for you and you can't stop until you do.

Panic and anxiety attacks if you are new to them can seem like you're suffocating, having a heart attack, maybe you feel dizzy or have shortness of breath. Frankly, I don't want to list all the symptoms, because if you haven't figured it out yet, you can self induce an attack with your own thoughts. Maybe you've been silently suffering for years and you have finally decided to do something about it.

Which brings me to my next point; you got to this place not necessarily because of some traumatic event in your life, albeit that could have been the starting point. No, your panic and anxiety attacks are a direct result of the thoughts you've entertain over some prolonged time period. You have unknowingly worked yourself into a panic state of mind.

So you think to yourself, I've had an attack when things were going well and there was no apparent threat to me. Yes, I know, this is common after you have conditioned your body to respond to the stimulus of adrenalin released from repeated false alarms. It's like having a security system that keeps going off even though there is no intruder. There's a glitch in the system and it needs to be fixed.

How do you fix it, you ask? You first have to recognize your own self talk, saying things like "oh no, I'm having another attack", "what if I have an attack, people will think I am crazy", I know this sounds a little simplistic, and maybe it is, but part of the problem is how you talk to yourself when you feel the symptoms coming on.

You can get help managing and even eliminating panic and anxiety attacks and you never have to worry about them controlling your life again. It's important to find a program or method that allows you to reach your end goal, and that is complete elimination of the panic and anxiety attacks. You don't have to continue to live in a state of fear and anxiety or even be ashamed about suffering from panic and anxiety attacks. You just have to decide that you want to move on with your life and get better.
