When a patient experiences pain & discomfort in the chest area, a cardio specialist has to perform certain tests and procedures to find out the real problem, its cause and to assess its way of treatment. This process of diagnosing a patient requires cardiogram machine to generate a cardiograph of the patient and this is done by professional EKG experts. They attach the electrodes of the apparatus to patients chest, arms & legs and start recording the condition of heart in the cardiograph, which is then forwarded to the concerned physician for further analysis.

The Skills: A cardio technician is also responsible for the maintenance of machines & apparatus, reporting any flaws or irregularities and getting them fixed. The cardio equipment has to be refilled from time to time with graph paper as well as graphing ink. Apart from this, technicians should posses good communication skills to bring patients at ease and comfort while doing the tests.

The Scope: For a cardio technician, jobs are available in abundance mainly in every hospital, private clinics, government medical attention centers, emergency services and in diagnostic centers.

The Way: A relevant degree or diploma in healthcare or been trained and certified as a skilled technician by an accredited training institution is an added advantage for those who are willing to make a career in healthcare industry.
