Moving boxes: Dispel all thoughts of using used grocery boxes for moving. Grocery boxes are often not nearly strong enough for transporting household items and could break or tear any time during the move. Especially manufactured moving boxes are reinforced so they are strong enough to outlast the move. Some are designed with cutouts at two sides so they are easier for two people to lift while moving.

Bubble Wrap: Bubble wrap is a boon to anybody who wants to transport fragile items. Wrapping your fragile curios, your crockery, picture frames and any other delicate items with bubble wrap will help prevent breakage as the bubble wrap absorbs the shock while moving. Place your wrapped items gently in a box but do not force the item into the box as that could break it. Just fit them in snugly and pack the space in between with packing paper or crumpled newspaper.

Packing paper: Shredded paper makes excellent buffer when packing, especially for fragile items. You put a thick layer of packing paper at the bottom of the box, then gently place your fragile items that are wrapped in bubble wrap on top of the packing paper. Stuff packing paper in the spaces in between to prevent unnecessary movement, which could damage the fragile items.

Packing Tape: Tape used for packing purposes is typically stronger than other regular varieties of tape. Regular tape is not capable of holding together packing boxes and is sure to open out while carrying to or from the house.
