The Tufts Alumni association deserves attention and recognition because of its 150th anniversary. Yes, in far 1860, the Tufts University held its prime commencement as well as the decision to create an association that could unite graduates and inform them about current changes, achievements, and plans. The students were so inspired with the idea of developing their own independent association that within a short period of time, a constitution and several by-laws were successfully introduced.

What is now?

Nowadays, the association includes more than 100,000 members: all of them are the graduates from the university. It even happens that parents cooperate with their children within the frames of the organization.

Purposes of the association

As the vast majority of alumni association, the Tufts Association aim at uniting graduates of all years and strengthening their relations during a long time.

However, one of the most amazing and effective duties each member has to complete is to promote the spirit that is inherent to all students of the Tufts University. Respect to educators, memories, activities, and huge expectations that one day each student will grow proud of the fact of being a member of the community.

Traditions of the association

1.Two graduates from the university created a song Dear Alma Mater that is considered to be the associations hymn.

2.Jumbo performed the role of the most popular Tufts mascots, the Associations proud. However, in 1975, it was destroyed in fire.

3.Tuftonias Day is the annual holiday of the association and the University. In this day, both current and graduate students have to demonstrate their spirit and attitude to their native University.

This Alumni Association may serve as a good example of how students should treat their studies and people around. It is not always important to think about some financial donations or frequent visits. Just remember about this organization and its purposes.
