Many people try to lose weight every day. The media reported recently that 7 out of 10 people are on a diet at any given time. If we were successful at losing weight and keeping it off, this statistic would not be as high as it is. Most people are successful at getting the first 20 pounds off, but what about the rest? What keeps them from reaching their weight loss goals?
I don't believe this is a one-size-fits-all answer. For some, it is a failure to plan. Since eating healthy is not a habit for everyone, it takes planning. If you run for the junk food machine in the afternoon, you have to make sure that you have a healthy snack that is going to satisfy you in your possession. If you tend to hit the fast food drive through for convenience, you have to plan an alternative. There are alternatives that take no more time than fast food. You have to sit down once a week and plan how you are going to handle your time and food challenges. There are companies that market readymade meals that can be delivered to your home.
For some people, emotional eating can be a huge challenge. This deals with the way a person thinks and that is one of the difficult things to think. This may actually take consulting a counselor that specializes in treating this type of behavior. There are also support groups and online forums that can help with this type of problem. If you think you are alone, you find that you actually have a lot of company when it comes to emotional eating.
We all have different reasons for not being able to reach our weight loss goals, but only you can decide what is keeping you from sticking to a plan and find the help you need to get past whatever is holding you back.
