What Things Should I Consider When Preparing For Liposuction?
Deciding whether or not liposuction is right for you can be a difficult process
. If you are considering undergoing the surgery, there are a few things you might want to consider. You should think about what areas of the body you would like to focus on, what surgical techniques you are most comfortable with, and what you want your overall outcome to be.
Liposuction should be considered a cosmetic surgery, and not a treatment for obesity. The procedure works best for targeting trouble areas. You will want to decide which parts of your body you want to make look shapelier, or that you want to slim down. The surgery can typically remove up to 8-10 pounds of fat, either from one area, or from a small handful of areas. With this in mind you can decide whether you want to focus on one area only, or if you want to pick a couple areas. Liposuction can be dangerous if too much fat is removed, or if too many areas are operated on in one day. Make sure you remember this when deciding whether or not to undergo surgery.
There are several different techniques used for the liposuction process. Most techniques use cannulas, which are inserted into incisions made in the skin. The cannulas are connected to hollow tubes and a vacuum which sucks out the subcutaneous fat. However, the tumescent method, which has made its way to the forefront of lypoplasty techniques, uses microcannulas which are much smaller. The incisions that are made in order to insert the microcannulas are smaller and do not need stitches, as the incisions made by regular cannulas do. The tumescent technique can be done using only local anesthesia, which makes it very safe. The most dangerous complications associated with liposuction usually occur when patients are under general anesthesia, or both general and local anesthesia. The tumescent method has a high rate of success, and low rate of complications.
When deciding whether or not to get surgery you should evaluate what you want the results to be. There are some minimally invasive laser techniques that can be used for minor changes. If you feel like you are a healthy weight and in good shape, but can't get the silhouette you want with diet and exercise, these techniques might be right for you. They give you a tighter slimmer look, without going through a long process. You need to decide what is right for you, and how you want to look after the procedure is complete. Then you can go about deciding which areas you would like to focus on, and which techniques would work best for you.
