Usually about 15% of your hair will be in the resting phase, but if you change your nutrition intake suddenly this can cause damage to the hair follicle and make it enter the resting phase early; to a percentage of 30%.

Stress can also prevent faster hair growth and can even cause permanent hair loss. You won't see the damaging effects of stress on your hair for up to four months.
